It was somewhat of a breakout season for Cutter Dykstra in 2010 as his offensive numbers increased significantly from 2009.  The 2nd round pick in 2008 batted an impressive .312 last year up 68 points from 2009.  Even though his offense seems to be coming around it is becoming difficult to find a position that Dykstra can excel at.  He has played CF, 2b and 3b in his 3 years of minor league ball and he hasn’t found success at anyone of them.  Last year playing the majority of the games at 3b, Dykstra proceed to look more like a butcher than a infielder as he committed 21 errors for a .894 fielding percentage.  Without massive improvement in the field it really won’t matter how good Dykstra’s bat is, he will never make it to the show.  However the 21 year old is athletic enough to where he should have the ability to become an adequate fielder somewhere.  Hopefully settling in on one position will speed that process along.
